Introduction About Myself

Hi guys. My name is Mattimi0, fan of Matimi0 and today I want to introduce myself. This will be a post about me; my early life, my gaming history and what I'm doing today. If there are gaps in anything or I'm a bit vague on details I apologize. I can't remember a lot of my younger life and experience writer's block every time I write. Lol. Anyways I'll start to talk about myself.

My real name's Matthew or Matt depending on who's saying my name. Anyways I'm from the second biggest but largely empty country of Canada. Even the flag's kind of bare; simply comprising of a white background with the famous red maple sandwiched between 2 red squares on the left and right sides. And this emptiness pretty much describes my early life. I didn't do much and in my hometown, Saint John, there isn't much that happens. It gets skimmed over by the world, even by my American neighbours.

Me and my city are quite connected in this way. I really can't remember much of what happened to me as a little kid. I woke up, did school and then... read kids books or use a computer? And I don't even remember the things I had other than not much. My parents, back then being the extremely cautious type, wouldn't get me much of anything. Not even the LEGO sets I enjoyed as a kid and still like today. The 2000s graphics on the product boxes are a thing of nostalgia! But yeah my parents probably wanted me to be like them. Or at least they tried to see if I would. I'll never know. But regardless they were very invested in trying to raise me their way whatever that was. My parents came to Canada from boring Hong Kong in 1991. And from bits of expository sentences (yes because all the world's a movie screen!) they've said at random times I guess they had tough upbringings. Perhaps they were trying to give me and my older sister and younger brother a better start in life then they had. I won't know if they helped or made me regret my past. But is there anything I remember? Well I didn't get into sports until later in life as my parents never were into them. They do like tennis, will watch a bit of what happens in the Olympics and that's pretty much how close they'll get to them.

I mentioned I used the computer. I remember some of the games I played on my family's old computers. I did play some Disney-licensed games that were disguised as educational games but were just where some of the movie promotional money went to. There was some Lion King game I remember I played a lot. And speaking of that movie I think I also played a game about Brother Bear which if you didn't know, was Disney's 2003 attempt at a Lion King movie in a North American setting. Once I passed that age whatever it was I did like to play the Spider-Man and Star Wars licensed games. Spider-Man 2 was really fun. I also did like the Jedi Knight and Republic Commando games. Speaking of that first-person shooter I started playing FPS games when I was 10. Republic Commando wasn't my first shooter. I think the first Call of Duty was my first one. I played the second one incessantly when it got released. The gore mods really enhanced my experience! I skipped the third entry but played Modern Warfare. Me and the rest of the gaming community experienced how legendary and influential that game was. I didn't play it on Steam though. Instead it was on a now-shutdown service called Direct2Drive. I'm thinking about getting it again on Steam but so far Battlefield's my gaming girlfriend. Anyways I also used to play the then-rival of Call of Duty, Halo. I loved Combat Evolved but the second one even more. I took a break from that series and returned with Reach and 4. I think both of those titles are definitely under-received. You're probably wondering why there was a huge gap between my time with Halo and that's because when I was 14 I started to like stealth games. I completed all of the Splinter Cell games except the first one. I also completed all of the Hitman games except the first one and latest title.

However I got into Battlefield a couple of years later when I was 16 I think. I got Battlefield 1942 on Origin even though I knew it was antiquated. However I just wanted to get a sense of what the series had to offer and I immediately knew I would like to invest in it. I then moved to Battlefield 3 to get ready for Battlefield 4. Of course that game was far from ready for release so I held off from getting it until 2015. I played it a lot and really grew a lot as a gamer in my time with that game. Looking back at my recordings I often think how did I not do this and instead did that? So I'm almost only playing Battlefield. I did get Ubisoft's The Division last year but stopped playing indefinitely. I'm thinking about getting Rainbow Six Siege though to broaden my horizons.

So that was my gaming history. What about my real life? Well I graduated high school in 2016 and currently attend the lone and small university in my city. I'm in the arts program and planning to major in English and major in history. I feel like those courses really enhance my understanding of people and the world. I'm sure they're more useful than many people, especially many baby boomers, give them credit (not pun intended) for. And speaking of baby boomers older people ask me what I'll do for a career. I honestly don't know. So far I think I'll go to an arts school, hopefully get a BFA and become a famous and well-received filmmaker. Maybe the next Tom Cruise, Matt Damon or George Lucas. Maybe a combination of those. I don't know. Maybe I'll be a rapper. Unless I have to work a stupid office job to pay for my arts school I'm not interested in working in an office where I spend 8-9 hours filling out useless forms or doing business meetings. What I call the "baby boomers' plan of life" where you go to college and/or university and get a degree of any sort, get a career immediately and work for 4-5 decades and retire with lots of money in the bank; you're set for life! Everyone in western society's indoctrinated with that fake utopian ideal. It's far from real life and frankly doesn't appeal to me. I'm not the kind of person who just wants do something for money; I need purpose in life. And doing an office job, being in the science/medicine field or labour area just isn't where I fit in. Yeah even though I'm Asian,Chinese to be more specific, I'm terrible at science and math.

Anyways that's all I can write for my introduction. I hope this wasn't a pain to read. I tried to make these readable and not just a huge wall of text. Anyways I want to briefly take the time to talk about what to expect from this blog and my Youtube channel. So currently I'm planning to release a weekly video and blog post every Thursday. You can expect the videos and blog posts to be related to gaming with maybe bits of thoughts of life sprinkled here. Thank you for reading and I hope you look forward to reading my next post!
